The Board of Directors for Valley Wide Cooperative have established an ongoing directive to reach out and engage with the next generation of producers with the intent to identify those members who are interested in developing their leadership and advocacy skills. As a member-owner of Valley Wide, it’s now easier than ever to learn more about the cooperative model and develop those leadership skills needed to support your business and industry. That’s why Land O’Lakes, in partnership with Valley Wide Coop is offering a new program focused on leadership development called Cornerstone for Engagement. Because last years event was so successful, we have decided to make this an annual event.

Regional Cornerstone of Engagement events kick off with a basic co-op 101 – how Land O’Lakes or Winfield does business and how the local coop like Valley Wide/Valley Ag and its members play a role in the model. Our Member Relations team then gives an in-depth presentation of the various businesses Land O’Lakes oversees and the other product and service offerings available to members such as health insurance, purchasing programs and countless others. Leadership from Valley Wide and Valley Ag will be on hand to discuss ways members can get more involved in the industry. Members also have an opportunity to define and strategize personal and professional development goals meant to support business, cooperative and industry.

Chris and Christy Clelland are producers from the Caldwell area that have attended in the past. Chris, now a Board Member for Valley Wide, says “The Cornerstone program was an eye-opener for me in many ways. If I’m going to be involved, I need to get started” – Cornerstone was the vehicle.

Cornerstone for Engagement is a program sponsored by both Land O’ Lakes/Winfield and Valley Wide Cooperative to identify key producers in Idaho who are current members of the coop and/or influential in both their business and the area in which they do business.

Cooperatives play a huge part in the task of feeding the world. The intent of Cornerstone is to introduce key people to the cooperative system from both a local and national perspective to gain a better understanding of their potential influence on the industry of agriculture. As a producer that is a member of a local cooperative, you are connected to a worldwide system of distribution and influence like no other system in the world.

This is an excellent opportunity to enjoy beautiful Sun Valley, and share time and experience with others devoted to the business of agriculture.

Participation is limited to 15 couples. If you have interest, please contact your local agronomist or email
