The position of Safety Supervisor is of great significance to Valley Wide Cooperative.  The primary function of this position is to assist the company in protecting the safety of all personnel across locations to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for all employees.   A person in this position will have extensive knowledge of Environmental/OSHA regulations, policies and procedures. Extensive travel will be required in the Magic Valley, Eastern Idaho and Western Utah area. Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist, plan and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT).
  • Inspect and audit locations, work areas, and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies.
  • Perform safety surveys and inspections.
  • Report safety hazards and recommend preventative measures and/or corrective actions.
  • Implement and document monthly safety trainings for all departments, maintain in safety files and records.
  • Assist management in training personnel within their specific departments.
  • Must maintain appropriate and expected levels of customer service throughout all locations.
  • Must be able to make appropriate decisions and execute them according to policy.
  • Develop and evaluate safety and health policies, as needed, to ensure compliance with state, federal and local regulations.
  • Conduct and report post-accident and incident investigations and advise HR on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.
  • Coordinate with HR to manage all worker’s compensation claims, including light duty and return to work programs.
  • Required to travel is 50% or more of the time. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree required; or three to five years minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have strong communication skills; ability to communicate in appropriate, professional manner with managers, supervisors, employees, customers, vendors and general public.
  • Must have ability to determine order of need and task priority based on level of importance.
  • Must have a manager focus in all interactions and exhibit strong critical thinking/ problem solving skills.
  • Must exhibit a professional and positive image.
  • Previous experience in OSHA, MSHA, DOT and EPA regulatory requirements preferred. 
This is a full time, 40+ hours per week position, typically Monday - Friday. Qualified applicants must be available to work evenings and/or weekends and full days as needed, especially during times of high seasonal demand.

  • Salary range: $40,000 and $50,000 a year.
